Barcelo La Bobadilla's tasty new spa package

Kamis, 31 Mei 2012

What's the most delicious spa treatment you've ever had? Maybe a chocolate pedicure or a pomegranate facial? How about an olive oil massage? The five-star Barcelo La Bobadilla hotel in Andalusia has embraced its lush surroundings of acres of private olive groves and is offering you the chance to be smothered in its local produce with a delectable olive oil spa package.

From 168 euros per person you'll get an overnight stay for two at the authentic Andalusian retreat with breakfast, an olive oil peel and an aromatic massage each. The peel uses hojiblanca olive oil and sea salt. Hojiblanca olives are local to the region and have powerful therapeutic properties to combat ageing and leave your skin feeling rejuvenated. The peel is followed by a relaxing aromatic massage using a blend of olive oil, almonds and rosemary to leave you glowing. And if that's not enough to have you appreciate the picturesque setting to the fullest, the hotel can arrange balloon rides so you can see Andalusia from the sky, horseriding with Andalusian horses, of course, and you'll wake up to fine views of the estate.

London Bridge station's beautiful new view

Waiting for a train at London Bridge station has just got interesting as The Shard (my new favourite London skyscraper) is very close to complete and is giving commuters at London Bridge a gorgeous view while they wait eagerly for their train home. Cannot wait to see inside the building when it's ready. Not long now...

Cool hotel room feature alert!

Rabu, 30 Mei 2012

I'm one of those hotel guests who checks in and then has to check out all the features of my room. Bathroom amenities, mini bar, views - the works. It gets even more interesting when there's something unique or well-hidden to discover. At the Hotel Bristol in Geneva, where I stayed over the weekend, I came across a very cool appliance in the bathroom that I think all hotel rooms should have.

This shiny gadget that resembles a bell and is stuck to one side of the bathroom wall is a clothes line. Cool, eh? It's the perfect feature for travellers who like to wash their clothes as they go without having to drape them over anything they can find in the bathroom. It's pretty discreet too and you just have to pull one end of the line out of the container to the other side of the bathroom, which is conveniently over the bathtub, and put it in the hole in the wall.

See how brilliant it is? Ok, so it's not an ice cream maker or a hot tub but for a clean freak like me, it's great. Something else I liked is that the Hotel Bristol doesn't use regular 'Do not disturb' signs. It has coloured signs in the form of tiebacks - the red for if you don't want to be disturbed and the green for if you want your room made up.

Have you seen anything unique or quirky in a hotel room? Leave a comment and let me know.
